Great Basin Precision Rifle (GBPR)

Precision Rifle monthly matches are the 1st Saturday and Sunday of the month.

Between April and October on the BUFFALO RANGE

These shoots are set up for the beginner and experienced shooter to know their Rifle, scope, judge distance, windage, hitting moving target at distance, working together as a team, keeping up your skills, and to have a fun and challenging shoot.

Saturday: Long Range Precision Rifle

7:30am Start Time

  • Shooting 1,000 – 1,760 yards

  • Round count is normally ~20 - 25 rounds

  • Rifle caliber up to 338 Lupua

About 9:30am Mid Range Start:

  • Shooting 200 - 1,100 yards

  • Around 80 rounds

  • Rifle caliber up to 300 W.M.

Sunday: Gas Guns

9:00am Start Time:

  • Shooting 200-1,000 yards

  • Round count is normally 70-80 rounds

Match fees

  • Saturday is $25.00 each day for Long Range and Mid Range.

  • Sunday is $25.00 for Gas Gun match

  • Targets: Reactive Targets, Steel military Infantry, Iron Maiden, IPSIC targets and more. Target mounted hit indicator on most of the targets.

  • Ammunition: No steel core, green tip or military surplus.

Gear

  • Scope; M.O.A. or MILL, with adjustable turrets.

  • Bubble level on the scope or rifle.

  • Shooting mat, spotting scope, range finder, ballistic calculator, if you have them.

  • Bipod

  • Chamber safety flag

  • Hearing and eye protection.

  • A logbook or data book. You can fill out the range, temperature, elevation setting, windage adjustments, for each shoot.

Sanctioned Matches

The following matches are sanctioned matches for competitors to gain points in a series. You do not need to be a member of the series to shoot these matches. These matches are scheduled year round at the Buffalo Range, weather dependent.

  •  Precision Rifle Series regional matches are held on the 2nd Saturday of the month.

  • Precision Rifle Series Rimfire regional matches are held on the 2nd Sunday of the month.

  • NRL Hunter Games matches are held on the 2nd Sunday of the month.

    • These matches are designed to replicate western hunting scenarios implementing a find, range and engage style of shooting from natural terrain or obstacles you may encounter while afield.

    • It is perfect for hunters to dial in their hunting setup and become familiar with gear deployment in a hunting scenario.
